Collaboration with Dann Disciglio
Shoes that contain bioluminescent dinoflagellate bacteria that the owner must feed
and maintain to keep the shoes glowing. This piece is a response and proposed
remedy for the destructive industry fast-fashion: if the consumer is forced to develop
a mindful relationship with the object, they may think twice before discarding it. The bottom compartment
containing the bioflagellates can be removed and replaced with a regular sole to give the organisms
rest as needed.
